End-game content for semi-casual players?
Unfortunately there does not seem to be any endgame content for us semi-casual players who simply do not like the Domain of Anguish. In both previous games there were at least two things for us to choose from, meaning that if we didn't like to do one of the endgame maps we could always go for something else.
Referring to UW and FoW for prophecies and The Deep and Urgoz (and even ABs as they kept me busy for quite some time after I finished the game) in Factions.
Nightfall just doesn't seem to offer anything to me (and 95% of my friendslist) after you finish it....except grind.
When did this game chance so much?

Err... Just about any area has bosses who drop greens and large groups of monsters with scaling difficulty up to the realm of torment...

Correct me if I am wrong, but is DoA not exactly the same for NF as UW & FoW for prophecy and Urgoz and The Deep for Factions? Just because you dont like it does not mean its sub-par to the others.

UW, FoW, lots of greens and rare skins in Realms of Torment, challenge missions for hero armor and/or highscores, Poisoned Outcrops/Crystal Overlook (as in, zones with many bosses etc. outside the storyline), numerous quest-lines of multiple quests throughout the game which offer quite some nice money and trade contracts/kournan coints etc.
So aside from the elite missions Urgoz and the Deep, which just happened to be casual-doable cause of cookie-cutters.
Sorrows Furnace is just as any other Realm of Torment zone in essence: You can get a bunch of quests which change the spawns and give you a special task, there are greens there, elites there, and its instanced.
I still fail to see where the fundamental difference between SF and any other high-end zone is. Maybe that its easier to get greens there?
IMO, Eternal Grove explorable, for example, is the same as SF. Lots of bosses, higher level of difficulty than the surrounding areas, but just slightly so.

It's different in that it's not content from the primary storyline. Additionally, the difficulty is a fraction higher than the primary storyline content. This means that semi-casual players can eventually get through these zones, and enjoy them because they don't need to bring highly specialized builds (more true for SF than others). For the semi-casual Nightfall player, there is no post-endgame content. Period.

Indeed, there's nothing there at all.
UW, FoW and GF/SF have repeatable quests. Traipsing around regular high level Nightfall areas doesn't compare at all, you can do that in any of the three games.
Sorrow's Furnace is special. Screw the bosses, it has the coolest quest in the entire trilogy of games, "The Forge Heart".
The final battle with Abaddon is really just a very weak ripoff of this SF quest. Quite disappointing.
-Huge boss that's actually more part of the scenery than anything else? Check!
-Three (groups of) lesser creatures you need to kill to harm the boss? Check!
-Giant sized bludgeoning weapon attacks? Check!
-Magical area of effect attack? Check!

I'd stop playing first as well.
This is why joining a guild is useful for the PvE player though. There's always people who need help, or are going to do something crazy("Let's fight our way down to Droknars from Beacons!" "Ok!") and then there's helping random new people. It's quite interesting to take someone from Kamadan or Monastary, or Presear, and show them how to play the game / give them tips... Like the new alliance mate that needed help killing the drought..and wanted me to bring a ranger, I brought my mesmer, and now he's learning to play mesmer, because he thinks backfire is the greatest hex he's ever seen. It's refreshing to the jaded player to see people still learning new stuff.
Another thing I've been doing with nightfall in particular, is capping the elites and making up all sorts of new builds for myself in pve, and trying them out. (Burning Arrow + Glowing Gaze + Kindle Arrows + Conjure Flame actually works very well...who would have thought?)
I also recommend the Drakes on the Plain quest if you haven't tried it. There are many comical quests in Nightfall that the casual player can miss if they don't look for them.
DoA = So not for the casual player. Boo. A.net. Boo. I know there's an elite mission in there at the end(and that's ok.), but when several people and a few heroes can't kill one or two margonites out there, much less the mobs without gimmicks...

They definitely need to make an area for Elona after the story has finished for casual players. I really don't like the fact that we have to adjust so much to play the area.

man this thread got hot in a hurry... all of a sudden PvP is a crime to pve players...
and OP you could always play pacman wurm...
So, how many times have you "casual" players beaten the Deep without changing your build to suit the desired group build? Id believe it when i see it. Too hard? GG.

Though I'm not a semi-casual player myself, I can see the OP's point. You could always hunt titles/skills/chest though.
Don't forget that NF is only 2 months (ish) old. If you think of a GW episode shel life as 6-9 months, we're not that far into it. Thats what is the beauty of MMORPG's, ArenaNet could release something tomorrow in a patch that would satisy your needs, just because they haven't announced it doesn't mean they aren't working on it!

how is PvE boring? there are a dozen or more titles to max... a millions people to help... even more impossible bosses...
you people that get tired of PvE are just weak because you get frustrated of being wiped out 5 times in a row against a boss...
sure...me too.. but im back the next day and eventually i will make it...
i have finished NF and Prophecies... DoA is a pain... but hey... i still lack Source of the Titans quest... i am working on my Master Elite Skill Hunter... which i can only get after the next game >.<
i can't find where my 5,9% of Tyria are... i still lack 30ish% of Elona to find...
really... you get bored of PvE and start playing PvP? it has already been worn out! 80% of tested builds in wiki are for PvP... in PvP you don't have nothing new... you just fight against 8 other guys...
anyways... im a noob... what do i know...

Where were all the semi-casuals crying about elite areas before DoA? Let me throw some numbers out for you.
Approximate times for clearing elite areas:
Fissure of Woe ~ 3 hours
Underworld ~ 4+ hours
The Deep ~ 2 hours
Urgoz Warden ~ 2+ hours
Stygian Veil ~ 2 hours
City of Tor'qua ~ 1 1/2 hours
Gloom ~ 1 1/2 hours
Foundry ~ 4+ hours
Mallyx ~ ?
I think the problem is most "casuals" started doing the Deep and Urgoz after people figured out how to do them. This is what happens when you open an elite area to everyone without any conditions (no favor or no town control). You all got what you asked for and got your faces rocked off.

I think its great that guild wars now has more of a challenge, people bragged tons about how easy factions was, and that the game isn't challenging. So you all get what you wanted :P

if a couple of hours of lfg spamming to spend a few minutes outside a locked gate dieing before team starts leaving + rank & build discrimination and lack of team chat programs = fun challenge then they did a great job.sounds like bs to me though.
and how long will it be before people stop with the "pvp is end-game" crap,some like pve and pvp but most like one or the other and have no interest in swichting game genres.maybe you could just request a.net to put posters up in the capitals,"not encountered enough abuse and discimination in pve?well try your hand at pvp and your sure to find more of enough of both to last you a life time".
back on topic doa,anybody know if the sales tactic of it being missed from the game and then being announced as a planned extra update(as a special thx for buying nf)actualy worked.anyhow i'm just hanging around for the snowball fights(as i loved that last year),then like many,many thousands before me i'm off to greener pastures.all my real friends have departed and not a single person in my guild/alliance even appears to have bought nf because none of them have been online for 4-7 months.
impo gw is boring now and its about time they moved on to a new project.
